GK-12 Program Application Information
Candidates for Graduate Fellowships will complete an application that provides key professional information, transcripts, GRE scores and a statement of interest in the GK-12 program and the recommendation of their graduate program, committee chair.
Candidates with appropriate credentials will be interviewed. The steering committee will rank order appropriate candidates based on their performance and record, and offers will be made to the top candidates.
In addition to a strong academic record, the candidate will possess leadership, communication and decision-making skills. The candidate must possess unusual motivation, passion, and potential to make significant contributions to his/her profession. He/she will display personal attributes that include self-awareness, emotional maturity, initiative, tenacity, energy, vision, risk-taking and interpersonal effectiveness.
The ideal candidate is interested in personal development and lifelong learning and will recognize the advantage of participating in the GK-12 Program. Special efforts will be made to recruit Graduate Fellows who are graduates of KCKPS and/or TPS and can serve as role models to the middle school students. It is required by the National Science Foundation that these be active graduate students in the School of Engineering, the natural science and/or mathematics and that they be U.S. Citizens.
How to Apply to the GK-12 Program for 2010
Application Deadline is January 4, 2010 st at 5:00 pm.
All materials must be complete with packet delivered to Room 3078 Dole Human Development Center at 1000 Sunnyside Ave.
Please complete the application cover sheet and application that provides key professional information,
Application Cover Sheet, - transcripts,
- GRE scores,
- a statement of interest in the GK-12 program,
- recommendation letter of their graduate program, committee chair.
Interviews will be scheduled for the week of January 11, 2010 between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.
